Many employers utilize policies which govern appropriate dress and grooming standards for employees in the workplace. In other circumstances, employees may rely upon common sense and good judgment regarding their appearance and clothing in the workplace, or employers may choose to give employees examples of what is appropriate and inappropriate attire. This course will also review how to address slogans and messages on clothing that may be deemed offensive and how to address other thorny topics, including body tattoos, piercings, and body odor. You will also learn that a properly drafted dress code will not only help to maintain a professional atmosphere that is conducive to the employer’s business environment but will also play a critical role in limiting an employer’s legal exposure.
