DHL, Vizio, Delta Airlines among Top Grand Stevie Winners

Deutsche Post DHL, a logistics sector, was honured with the Grand Stevie Award for winning the most honors overall, as part of the recently held eighth edition of the Stevie Awards, highly coveted in the world of business. Vizio, Inc. Headquartered in California, is a producer of consumer electronics, and won the Grand Stevie as well. The other big name to win the Grand Stevie was Delta Airlines, a well known American airline. Several other companies also bagged the Grand Stevies.

The Stevie Awards are given for excellence in customer service and sales, and were instituted in 2002 to honor high-performing businesspersons and firms worldwide. The awards are perceived as the Oscars in the world of business, and were actually called the Business Awards (American) back in 2002, and took an international prefix in 2003.

The idea of Stevie Awards came from a US businessman Michael Gallagher, who was with an information services company. He was also sales and marketing VP at an advertising firm more recently.

Category of awards

The word Stevie originates from Stephen, which has a Greek meaning of being crowned.
There are five programs under Stevie Awards and all of them have separate focus and categories. The American Business Awards are aimed at organizations that operate in the United States; the International Business Awards are for organizations across the globe, while the Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards are for organizations in the Asia Pacific. There are awards for customer service and sales, aimed at organizations all over the world. These awards are in recognition of achievements in the customer and sales category, and are also for those in the call center industry. There are separate awards for women in the world of business across the world.

While several individuals and teams have won recognition at the eighth edition of the Stevie awards, the Grand Stevie winners were decided on the number of awards they won overall in the customer service and sales category. Apart from DP DHL, Vizio Inc and Delta Airlines, the other companies to win the Grand Stevie are as follows:

•    Turk Economy Bank
•    Salesforce
•    EMKAY and Richardson
•    PetRays

All these companies won the Grand Stevie based on the following calculation: three points for each Gold Stevie victory, two for Silver and one and a half points for Bronze.
